Jakarta to hold auto expo

JAKARTA (JP): Amid increasing car sales, an automotive and
accessories expo will be held on June 8 through June 11 at the
Jakarta Convention Hall.

The organizer, PT Propamer International Organizer, said on
Friday that about 60 authorized car dealers, general car
importers, car accessories and insurance companies were expected
to exhibit at the event.

The company expects at least 100,000 people to visit the four-
day event and about Rp 100 billion (US$11.7 million) worth of
transactions to take place.

Several popular brands of cars such as Mercedes-Benz,
Volkswagen, Cherokee, Toyota, Mitsubishi and Timor, including
their imported versions, will be displayed at the expo.

A number of car exhibitions have been held in Jakarta since
early January this year as the country's automotive market is
showing signs of recovery after being severely hit by the
economic crisis in 1998 and 1999. (07)
