Jakarta Square Jazz to be on regularly

JAKARTA: Jurnal IndonesianManagers, an organization to accommodate the needs of managers to communicate and interact, will stage a Jakarta Square Jazz performance on Sept. 1, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., at The Plaza Semanggi, Central Jakarta.

Starting in October, the event will be on biweekly every Wednesday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. and be aired live at Trijaya FM radio station.

Organizer Toto Hermito said over the weekend that the focus would be on the music, particularly the repertoire from mainstream and progressive, to contemporary jazz.

He added that live jazz performances had become somewhat rare since the last JakJazz festival in 1997. Back in the 1980s and 1990s, Jakartans used to enjoy many jazz events, including Friday Jazz Night in Ancol, North Jakarta, and other, regular performances at clubs. -- JP
