Jakarta owes no power bills

In connection with the report in The Jakarta Post, July 13, entitled Power operator says city owes Rp 200 b, we would like to make a clarification after contacting the relevant unit of the state electricity company, PT PLN - Jakarta and Tangerang Distribution.

The statement of Fahmi Mochtar as general manager of PT PLN - Jakarta and Tangerang concerned "electricity bill arrears incurred by subscribers/citizens of Jakarta, which at present have reached around Rp 200 billion".

Therefore, the news saying that "the Jakarta provincial government owes Rp 200 billion in unpaid electricity bills to PT PLN - Jakarta and Tangerang" is not true.

CATUR LASWANTO, City Public Relations Bureau, Jakarta

Note: Thank you for the clarification.
