Jakarta hosts Asia Pacific jamborees
JAKARTA: Jakarta will host the first Asia-Pacific Air Internet Jamboree (API) and the Asia-Pacific Air Jamboree (APA) from Aug. 6 through Aug. 8 at the Cibubur camping ground, East Jakarta.
"The Indonesian Scouts executive board is proud to host such events," deputy chairman Parni Hadi said on Tuesday.
Indonesia has been organizing similar events, including the Jamboree On the Air (JOTA), since 1955, and the Jamboree On the Internet (JOTI), since 1991.
"The API and APA aim to strengthen relationships between scouts in the Asia-Pacific region, as well as to commemorate the 100th anniversary of world scouting in 2007," Parni added.
Acting coordinating minister for people's welfare Malik Fajar is scheduled on Friday to open the APA and API, which will be participated in by 23 countries. -- Antara
