Jakarta festival in Bali

JAKARTA: The city tourism agency, in an effort to attract foreigners to the capital, will hold a series of tourism promotion activities in Denpasar this week.

Dubbed Jakarta The New Face of Indonesia, the event will take place from Oct. 12 to Oct. 14. It will feature, among other things, the Jakarta Food Festival and a fashion show, presenting the collections of designers Oscar Lawalata and Ghea S. Panggabean.

It is expected that, through these activities, Jakarta will be able to regain the trust of tourists, especially foreigners, who will view the capital as a place worth visiting, according to Robert Silalahi, head of the city tourism agency.

He said that Bali had been chosen as a home for the event because it was relatively safe compared to other parts of the country.-Antara
