Jakarta Fair expects more visitors

JAKARTA (JP): This year's Jakarta Fair at the Kemayoran
fairgrounds is projected to attract about three million people,
an executive of the Jakarta International Trade Center said
yesterday.

Director of the center Sukardjo Hardjoprawiro told reporters
that the projected number of visitors is about 30 percent higher
than last year.

"In line with the increase in visitors, trade transactions to
be concluded during the fair are also projected to increase by 30
percent to Rp 25.9 billion (US$11.77 million at current rate),"
Sukardjo said.

He explained that the fair, which will be opened by Vice
President Try Sutrisno on June 17, will have 2,400 participants
and employee 18,000 workers per day. The fair will close on July
15.

The fair will be open daily from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. on
weekdays. On weekends it will be open from 10 a.m. until 11 p.m.

The municipal administration has prepared 450 buses to
transport visitors from various parts of the city to
Kemayoran.(yns)
