Jakarta Brimob officers sent to Aceh

JAKARTA(JP): Some 114 officers from the police's elite Mobile
Brigade (Brimob) departed on Monday bound for Aceh to reinforce
the security forces in the troubled province.

A ceremony to see off the officers from Brimob's headquarters
in Kelapa Dua was held at the Jakarta Police headquarters, with
the salute being taken by Jakarta Police chief Insp. Gen. Sofjan
Yacob.

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Anton Bachrul Alam said the
detachment of Brimob officers was meant to refresh the security
forces in Aceh as they were being sent to replace their Brimob
comrades who had been assigned earlier to Aceh. (emf)
