JakArt@2022 to kick off in June

JAKARTA: The City Administration and the JakArt@2002 organizers will jointly stage the month-long International Arts, Culture and Educational JakArt@2002 Festival in June to commemorate the city's 475th anniversary.

"The festival was proposed by a group of artists and we really hope such events will bring Jakartans together to participate in the event," said the organizers chairman, Irawan Abidin.

The festival will be an exchange of culture among national and international artists participating in the event.

Irawan is hoping the public will donate enough money to financially support the festival, beritajakarta.com reported.

He also said that the organizers have received confirmation from several non-Indonesian cultural centers which will participate in the event, including the Goethe Institute, Erasmus Huis, the Russian Cultural Center and the Portuguese Embassy.

Last year's festival saw around 350 arts events. -- JP
