Jail term sought for alleged killers

TANGERANG (JP): A prosecutor asked the Tangerang District Court on Tuesday to sentence two people to 20 years in jail each for a premeditated murder of their friend who refused to lend them Rp 20,000 (US$2.35).

Prosecutor Hotmaida told the court that defendants Subarja bin Kubil, 19, and Hubudin bin Sahrani, 23, were guilty of killing Kaman bin Jasiman, 20, in Nagrek village, Cisoka, Tangerang on Jan. 26 this year.

According to the prosecutor, the defendants confessed to the murder. They allegedly committed the murder as not only did the victim refuse to lend them the money but also said that the defendants did not deserve to be his friend because they were poor.

The defendants said they planned to kill the victim when the latter told villagers that the two defendants had borrowed money from him.

The prosecutor said the defendants used a knife and sickle to kill the victim in a field in the village. (41)
