Ivanna quits posts at PBSI

JAKARTA: In an attempt to concentrate on the monitoring and training of female shuttlers, chief coach of Indonesia's female singles shuttlers, Ivanna Lie has announced her resignation from structural posts at the Badminton Association of Indonesia (PBSI), an official said.

PBSI chairman Chairul Tanjung confirmed on Friday that he had received the resignation letter from Ivanna that she has quit her position as Deputy Director for PBSI's National Training Center and Secretary of PBSI's Athletes's Monitoring and Screening Team.

"We (PBSI) have endorsed her (Ivanna's) request to resign as we understand that she needs to concentrate on the monitoring and training of Indonesia's female singles shuttlers," Tanjung told reporters.

He dismissed speculations that Ivanna's resignation had a connection with a recent wave of protests from the shuttlers, mainly on the selection of shuttlers to join in every badminton tournaments.--JP
