Italy tech mission visits RI

JAKARTA (JP): Senior representatives of Finmeccanica, an Italian company involved in aerospace, defense, energy, transportation and information technology, will visit Jakarta early next month to discuss bilateral cooperation, the Office of the State Minister of Research and Technology said.

The company's executives will visit state-owned PT Bahan Prakarya Industri Strategis (BPIS) to explore possible industrial tie-ups and joint ventures, the office said in a press release on Saturday.

It said that during the visit, State Minister of Research and Technology A.S. Hikam and Italian Ambassador to Indonesia Alessandro Merola also would discuss the implementation of an agreement between the two countries on scientific and technological cooperation.

The Italian delegation also will visit strategic industries under BPIS for a presentation of Finmeccanica's products.

Grouped under BPIS are 10 state companies involved in various industries, including aircraft, ship, steel, weapons and train manufacturers.(bkm)
