It is hard to meet with Mega: Agum

CIREBON, West Java: Communications minister Agum Gumelar said on Saturday he has had difficulty securing a meeting with President Megawati Soekarnoputri since agreeing to be Hamzah Haz's vice presidential candidate in the July 5 presidential election.

He said earlier that he wanted to quit the Cabinet after being selected as the running mate for presidential candidate Hamzah Haz. However, he has yet to tender his resignation to Megawati.

"Up to now, I have not met (with the President) because she is very busy. I do not feel it is a political matter, rather it is a technical one," Agum said.

Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, who is now the presidential candidate for the Democratic Party, had difficulty setting up a meeting with Megawati when he wanted to resign as the chief security minister. --JP
