Islamic textbook banned
SURAKARTA, Central Java: The High Prosecutor's Office has banned an Islamic textbook for first grade high schools because it contained a paragraph which was found to be "vulgar."
The ban against the book written by T. Ibrahim and published by Intan Pariwara Klaten was recommended by the Surakarta Education Office.
The book is widely used in this city and teachers have been informed about the ban and the need to replace it with another textbook.
Agung Sasongko, chairman of the Central Java chapter of the Association of Indonesian Publishers, called it a case of careless editing. (har/emb)
