Islamic schools need teachers
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Many Islamic schools, whether privately run or state-owned, in South Kalimantan are in dire need of teachers.
Aini Hagan of the provincial office of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, said that the shortage of teachers has led to a fall in the standard of education provided by these institutions, Antara reported.
For certain, the quality of these schools has fallen behind those found in Islamic schools in other provinces, Aini said.
There are currently 543 ibtidaiyah schools (primary Islamic schools) and 221 tsanawiyah (secondary Islamic schools) in the province which need more teachers. (rms)
