Islamic Information Center

From Media Indonesia

I would like to suggest that the Indonesian Council of Ulemas (MUI) establish an Islamic Information Center that can be contacted anytime by telephone or facsimile free of charge. The center would play an important role in providing information for the Moslems about the Islamic religion.

This is particularly necessary because the people are too busy and have very little time to study the religion thoroughly. The ulemas would be able to answer questions about Islamic life. For example, can a Moslem man marry Moslem women of the same parents? Is it right for a man to divorce his wife, and later marry her sister? What does the law say about a woman who does not cover her hair and her dignity? And many other similar questions.

I am convinced the Moslems in general would benefit from the center's service.
