Irianese hostage still treated
JAYAPURA, Irian Jaya: Yolanda, one of 11 Irianese hostages
kidnapped by an Irianese rebel group on May 5 and freed on May
31, was still being treated at the Marthen Indey military
hospital here as of Saturday due to malaria.
The other hostages, who were freed by the Papua New Guinea
military, were allowed to go home after doctors declared them to
be in a good health, Antara reported.
Yolanda is an employee at the health center at the Arso oil
palm plantation.
The hostages, most of them women, were kidnapped during the
rebels' raid on their residential site near the plantation in
Jayapura.
The rebels also killed four people, wounded three others and
robbed the local people.
