IPTN boss asked to quit

BANDUNG (JP): The Communication Forum of Employees of the state-owned Indonesian National Aircraft Manufacturer (IPTN) on Monday demanded that acting president S. Paramajuda step down for failing to properly manage the company.

The organization said Paramajuda rarely came to the office as he was too busy managing other companies also grouped under state-owned PT Pakarya Industri.

However, IPTN's corporate secretary Purnomo rejected the organization's accusations on Tuesday, arguing that Paramajuda still managed to control IPTN's operations amid his busy schedule with the other companies.

"As president in charge, he does not have to physically be at the office all the time. We can still communicate every day and make decisions through the telephone or e-mail," he said. (25/43)
