IPB turns out 1,191 students

BOGOR: The Bogor Institute of Agriculture (IPB) on Friday graduated as many as 1,191 students with various degrees -- doctorates, masters, and bachelors.

The graduation ceremony was led by IPB Rector Ahmad Ansori Mattjik at the Darmaga campus in Bogor, West Java.

Ahmad called on the new graduates to apply their knowledge to improve the agriculture sector, particularly in remote areas.

"IPB graduates must be able to revitalize the agriculture sector. If there are no good human resources who want to go to remote areas, then we will not be able to improve our agricultural sectors," he added.

He expressed concern that the majority of IPB graduates preferred to work in urban areas, while their knowledge and skills were needed in remote areas. --Antara
