Involvement of small contractors

JAKARTA (JP): The chairman of the city prequalification committee, Harun Al Rasyid, has urged large contractors handling city administration projects to involve small contractors.

"Involving small contractors is important to help reduce the gap between wealthy and needy businessmen," Harun said Wednesday when handing a book listing city contractors to the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Jakarta chapter.

The book lists 2,795 big city contractors, 467 consultancy companies and 5,850 big procurement and service firms, and 1,775 small contractors and 3,136 small procurement and service firms.

Harun reminded contractors planning to prequalify for city project tenders, to register with his office before Aug. 29. (hhr)
