TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta: The investment value of the global telecommunication industry using the broadband network or Wimax is estimated to reach US$8.3 billiion or around Rp74.7 trillion by 2010.
Country General Manager of Networks and Enterprise of PT Motorola Indonesia Didit Hermawan has said that the value comes from the development of network infrastructure by the telecommunication operator with US$3.9 billion. “In addition, the handset is US$4.4 billion,” said Didik in Jakarta, Tuesday (04/03).
Telecommunication operators will choose the technology because the costs to develop the network are cheaper than the GSM or CDMA's.
As the technology is widely used in the world, said Didit, the investment will keep increasing to US$41 billion by 2015. Meanwhile, Indonesia will only offer a tender of broadband access telecommunication provided by 2008.
Indonesia is waiting for the alacrity of Wimax to provide wares that may be utilized at the frequency of 2.3 Ghz that the government allocates.
