Inti Indo Sawit stops fire

JAKARTA (JP): PT Inti Indo Sawit plantation company announced
on Friday it had extinguished the fire that hit about 17 hectares
of its 20,247 hectare plantation area at Pangkalan Kuras in Riau.

Inti Indo Sawit's general manager Gelora Sinuraya said the
fire was caused by slash-and-burn farmer families from other
areas.

Several teams from the local administration had inspected the
area and verified that the fire had wholly been terminated,
Sinuraya said, adding that it had never been a policy of his
company to use fire for land clearing.
