Interruptions a point of order

JAKARTA (JP): Many will remember this year's General Session of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) for a newly established practice.

Dozens, probably hundreds, of interruptions have been heard since the General Session began on Oct. 1.

"Interruption are like a fever, they are contagious," a reporter said recently.

Journalists followed in the footsteps of Assembly legislators in promoting the new habit. During a media conference with Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI Perjuangan) deputy chairman Dimyati Hartono, the journalists used "interruption" when they asked a question.

"I like the spirit of this session," Dimyati said. (emf)
