Inten leads center for drug addicts
JAKARTA: Former minister of social affairs Inten Suweno has been elected chairperson of the Therapeutic Communities of Indonesia (TCI), an association of residential treatment centers for drug addicts.
In her post-election statement, Inten warned of the rapid increase in the number of drug abusers in the country and the fact that Indonesia had become an exporter of illegal drugs.
Other members of the Board include Al Bachri Husin as the secretary-general, Nuryani Yahya as the head of national and foreign affairs, E. Holiluddin as the head of organization and membership, Faisal N. Afdhal as the head of finance and funding and Enie D. Sutato as the treasurer.
TCI Indonesia has founded 16 drug rehabilitation centers in Jakarta which share a program that is much used around the world.
The Therapeutic Community is made up of professionals and drug addicts, who have similar problems and share common objectives by helping one another based on the philosophy of Man Helping Man to Help Himself. -- JP
