Integrated service system launched
The Jakarta mayoralty has decided to use the integrated
service system to process land and building permits that has been
in use in the South Jakarta mayoralty as a model of city
planning.
The decision to have other mayoralties copy South Jakarta was
made when Governor Surjadi Soedirdja met the city's five mayors
at City Hall on Thursday.
The service in South Jakarta was launched on Sept. 27 and is
open every Tuesday and Wednesday at a resident's house.
The system aims to cut the arduous bureaucratic chain as well
as providing better service for people processing land
certificates, building permits and city planning recommendations.
The city authorities also agreed to continue demolishing
illegal buildings throughout the city.
Between June 1993 and September 1994, 205 illegal buildings
were torn down in South Jakarta. During the same period South
Jakarta officials revoked 603 building permits and issued 528 new
permits. (yns)
