Inneke questioned in indecency case
JAKARTA (JP): Movie and television star Inneke Koesherawati
was summoned by the National Police on Wednesday and questioned
for two hours as a witness in a police investigation into alleged
violations of indecency in several publications here.
Accompanied by her mother Lenny Koesherbimin and lawyer Nining
Purwani, Inneke arrived at police headquarters on Jl. Trunojoyo
in South Jakarta at 9 a.m.
After the questioning, Inneke told reporters that she had been
summoned as witness to an offense allegedly committed by monthly
magazine Matra.
Inneke posed for its latest July edition.
"Police concentrated their questions on the techniques used by
photographers when they took my pictures."
She said she was asked 20 questions, one of which was whether
or not she was naked when the pictures were taken.
"It was a topless shot. I did not wear a bra but I did cover
my bare chest with both arms," Inneke said, adding that she
considered the cover picture a work of art.
A top photo model, Sophia Latjuba, was also questioned as a
witness earlier this month.
Sophia contended that she wore a bra and a skin-colored body
stocking when she posed for Popular magazine.
However, Inneke said it was the public who should judge
whether the pictures could be categorized as pornographic, which
later could be taken into consideration on whether to charge the
magazine with indecency.
Matra's chief editor Nano Riantiarno is among five editors who
have been named suspects in the investigation.
The other four suspects are Mujimanto of Popular magazine,
Koesnan Sukandar of Liberty magazine, Heru B. Iskandar of Pop
tabloid and Anggoro S. of Obyektif tabloid.
The suspects have been charged under Article 282 of the
Criminal Code pertaining to indecency.
If found guilty in court, they could face a maximum penalty of
18 months imprisonment and a fine of up to Rp 3,000 (less than 40
U.S. cents).(emf)
