Injustice for Anwar Ibrahim

The news that Rahim Noor, former Malaysian police chief found guilty of assaulting an apparently blindfolded and certainly handcuffed Anwar Ibrahim in detention, is walking free after only 40 days of a ludicrously short two-month sentence while his victim cannot go abroad for treatment presents the cynic with more to chew on.

No doubt Rahim, who obviously has "skills" to offer, will slip seamlessly back into the world of "security" he knows so well, where he can further serve the Establishment. And no doubt the ISA detainees will continue to be denied basic rights.

As the writer Stanislaus Lec once said, "The dispensing of injustice is always in the right hands".
