Information on transmigration
From Merdeka
As an Indonesian citizen, I would like to voice my concern over the scarcity of information about efforts in battling poverty in this country, especially through the transmigration program.
Newspapers in this city carry too few reports about the government's efforts towards achieving the goals of the program. For example, the government's efforts in encouraging private sectors to take part in the program.
I think this is a great stride in the program. But ironically such efforts get little media coverage and fail to reach people at all levels.
I would like to suggest that civil servants of the ministry of transmigration take part in the social activities of their respective neighborhoods. Some of them, perhaps, could become heads of their respective neighborhood communities or become members of other communal organizations in their residential areas in order to spread out the information.
Newspaper reports also said earlier that the minister of transmigration attributed people migration as part of their cultures. Yet until now, I have not heard any follow up reports on the transmigration program linked with the betterment of the people's standard of living.
In fact newspapers could be encouraged to report more about the program as some major business companies do when they promote their new products.
