Indriyani accepts delayed bonus

JAKARTA (JP): Indonesian weightlifter Sri Indriyani received a delayed 19th SEA Games bonus yesterday.

The reward, a house worth Rp 50 million, was symbolically handed over to her by State Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports Agung Laksono.

Sri Indriyani was awarded the bonus from housing developer PT Daksa after her victory in the 46kg division with a total lift of 170kg in last year's SEA Games.

Sri Indriyani said she was hesitant to receive the bonus since she was obliged to pay taxes totaling Rp 5 million, or 10 percent of the house price.

"I'm indeed very thankful but I can't afford to pay that much," she said after the ceremony.

The house, located in Cibinong in Bogor, West Java, was supposed to be handed over immediately after the games were over in October. (emf)
