Indramayu police beef up security

INDRAMAYU, West Java: Indramayu police have beefed up security in the area starting on Wednesday with the Indramayu regency election drawing near.

At least 567 police personnel had been put on alerted and told to be vigilant in order to help secure the regency in the run up to the Sept. 22 election, which will be contested by three pairs of candidates. In order to ensure security, Chief of Indramayu police Adj. Sr. Comr. Djoko Poerbo Hadidjojo said that he had instructed all his subordinates not to take leave until the Sept. 22 election is held.

Meanwhile, Indramayu General Election Commission (KPU) has prepared 12,000 election committee members to ensure that the election is well run. The election committees will be deployed at 4,000 polling stations across the regency. -- JP
