Indotama serves households

JAKARTA (JP): Indotama Cooperative has become the first cooperative in the country to enter the retail delivery service.

The cooperative's chairman, S. Daniel Phrang, said on Wednesday that the cooperative started its household shopping service early this month to serve customers in Jakarta, Tangerang and Bekasi.

He said goods would arrive at the purchasers' addresses within a week and deliveries were free of charge.

"We do not charge any transportation cost to our members, so with low operational costs we can offer prices 10 percent lower than supermarkets."

He said the lower prices were possible because Indotama bought the goods directly from producers and delivered them to consumers immediately.

Indotama Cooperative was established in August by employees of trading company PT Indoashri Tradertama, but its membership is widely open to public.

It also offers a lifetime monthly income by establishing a network similar to a multilevel marketing system. (gis)
