'Indosiar' programs win awards in S'pore

JAKARTA (JP): The bi-weekly professional boxing show Gelar Tinju Profesional Indosiar, broadcast live every Thursday and Friday on Indosiar television, won Best Sports Program at the Asian Television Awards 2000 in Singapore last week.

It shared the award jointly with Sports Night, aired on Singapore's TCS-SportsCity station.

According to a statement made available to The Jakarta Post on Monday, the Indosiar boxing program is the only television program from Indonesia that won awards in the programming category at the Asian Television Awards 2000.

Most of the prizes at last Thursday's event went to television stations from Singapore, the Philippines and Hong Kong.

In the performance category, Indosiar won three other awards: Best Music Program for its program named Satu Jam Bersama (An hour with) Sheila Majid, runner up in the Best Magazine Program for Horison, and Highly Commended Game or Quiz Program for its popular Family 100 show.

The program category at the annual awards for TV stations all across Asia covers nine groups, including the best programs for children, comedy, current affairs, documentary, entertainment, drama and wildlife.

The performance category covers 15 groups, such as the best presenters for news and entertainment shows, the best actors and actress for drama and comedy, the best quiz, infotainment, news, and single drama. (dja/bsr)
