Indoprom services

In early September 1996 I sent my subscription application for Asian Boating to NV Indoprom Coy in Jakarta hoping to receive an early delivery of the magazine each month. It was just a hope, which has now faded totally.

Payment was drawn Oct. 16, 1996 through my Visa card. I waited patiently until the end of November, but no magazine. I telephoned Indoprom and asked for my money back or the magazine be delivered immediately. An October copy of the magazine was delivered the next day.

Since then I have received no magazine or news from Indoprom. I telephoned again on Feb. 2, 1997. They promised to follow up the case, but until today no magazine. Again I phoned them on Feb. 21, but they had no news from the publisher. I asked them to phone the publisher and find out what was going on. They said they could not phone them.

At that point, almost half a year since my application, I decided to give up as there seemed to be no way to get my magazine. I telephoned yet again and asked for my money back as soon as possible. The answer was, believe it or not, that could be arranged but the process would take about two months.

One starts to wonder what means of communication Indoprom uses. In early September 1996 I also applied for subscription to Asia Week from Indoprom, and payment was drawn in October but no magazine. After several phone calls, the first issue arrived in early January 1997, four months after the application which Indoprom considered express service.
