Indoprom did not contact me

I read with interest PT Indoprom's letter by Rizal Vikdazir, the subscription division head (The Jakarta Post July 14, 2001, Indoprom responds). I read the letter with interest because that was the first time I heard of this person. He has not communicated with me but said in the letter that the problem had been settled. That is a statement I can refute.

I have spoken on three occasions with a female member of Indoprom by the name of Yana (Yama?), who advised that my subscription had been canceled due to nonpayment. To date no explanation has been given to me.

What this does show, however, is that the so-called subscription division head is prepared to use his underlings to clear up his own mess.

Let me say that in the twelve years plus that I have subscribed to the Economist in Indonesia, I have had, on five occasions, run-ins with PT Indoprom, but this is the first time I have received a response. Could it be due to the bad publicity?
