Indonesian women win ABF final

Indonesian bowler Putty Armein won on Sunday the Asian Bowling Federation (ABF) tour women's final at home after beating teammate Novie Phang 193-187.

Both bowlers appeared to have the jitters in the final match, which was attended by the Indonesian National Sport Committee (KONI) Chairman Agum Gumelar.

In early frames, Novie succeeded with double strikes, while Putty was forced to settle for spares.

But Putty was able to bounce back by making double strikes after several poor shots.

Putty also had some luck in the final as she only made one split, while Novie made two splits with the last split being made in the final frame.

Earlier on Sunday, Putty played much better in the semifinals by defeating Evelyn Chan of Singapore 246-216.

In the other semifinal, Novie also made a high score of 236 to beat Lai Kin Ngoh of Malaysia, who scored 204.

"Well, in the final, I was so nervous, but thank God, I finally won," she said after her victory.

With her victory, Putty earned the first prize of $2,500, while Novie took home $1,300.

In men's singles, Shaker Al Hassan of the United Arab Emirates won the final after beating Wu Siu Hong of Hongkong 238-236.

Shaker took the first prize of $5,000.

Indonesian hope Lie Joe Tjam lost in the first round.
