Indonesian pair win PABFC Cup

JAKARTA (JP): The Indonesian pair of Henky Lasut and Eddy Manoppo lived up to their billing as the continent's best pair when they won the Pacific Asia Bridge Federation Congress in Macau on Wednesday.

The seasoned tandem, who led Indonesia to fourth place in the Bermuda Bowl world championship last year, topped the field of 122 teams from nine countries with 552,5 match points (MP), spokesman for the Indonesian Contract Bridge Association Ananta Wijaya said in Wednesday.

Taiwanese pair Nelson Hsia and Hwang S came second with 528 MP, followed by Thomas NG and LL Lee of Hong Kong who collected 445.5 MP.

The PABFC Open Team championships kicked off on Wednesday at the same venue, featuring 28 women's and men's teams, split into two groups in each gender. The tournament will run until tomorrow. (amd)
