Indonesian firms invited to attend APEC expo
JAKARTA (JP): The South Korean government is formally inviting Indonesian companies to attend the first technology exhibition of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) to be held in the Korean city of Taejon in early May next year.
B.S. Park, a manager of the Jakarta office of the Korea Trade Center, said yesterday that Indonesian companies will not only have the opportunity to show their technology capability but also to learn of the technology development of the other 17 APEC members at the exhibition.
A seminar on technology will be held in tandem with the exhibition, which will be opened from May 22 to May 27 at Taejon, some 200 kilometers from Seoul.
"Participants will be also given the opportunity to carry out business negotiations during the exhibition," Park said, adding that participants could be those offering or seeking technologies.
He said that all applications for participation in the exhibition as well as business negotiations must be submitted to the organizer before the end of January.
Park said that an exhibitor will be allotted an exhibition booth of nine square meters free of charge, including those exhibiting domestic telephone services and electricity.
He said that participants will be exempted from paying the costs of the delivery of their equipment from Seoul to Taejon if the equipment is transported by airplane.
The organizer will designate the exhibition site as a bonded zone and the entry of goods should, therefore, be approved by the customs office as "temporary entry declaration" cargo upon arrival to the exhibition site. (hen)
