JAKARTA, Sept. 7 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian government plans to form a state-owned animal husbandry company to help achieve beef self-sufficient, detikcom online news quoted a minister as saying on Tuesday.

"A state-owned animal husbandry company is very important in the future. This is for beef self-sufficient (purpose)," said Agriculture Minister Suswono.

Suswono said that the company will deal productive cows development and calf procurement for consumption cow.

Director General for Animal Husbandry at the ministry Tjeppy Soedjanan said that the company could be a breeding institution to fulfill beef demand.

"If we start it now, we'll have it formed in the next six years at the latest," said Soedjanan.
