TEMPO Interactive, Jakarta:Indonesia intends to become the halal products and services centre of the world.

The market and cultural potential on this is quite large.

“There is a big market demand for halal products. We have to socialize that Indonesia has halal products,” said Syamsul Lussa, the Director of Market Development of the Culture and Tourism Department, in Jakarta, on Tuesday (18/5).

According to Syamsul, the potential of Muslim tourists is at least 1.2 million.

This is a big market opportunity.

The halal label will facilitate foreign tourists in finding halal products.

To realize this plan, the government plans to hold a product education and promotion titled The First International Halal Business and Food Expo or IHBF Expo.

The Exhibition aims to reach 15.000 visitors a day.

There are at least three countries listed as participants.

The event scheduled on 23-15 July is the right medium to promote halal products and services.

“Now there are more than more than 1.5 billion Muslim citizens and trade level of halal products in the world is above US$ 641 billion per year,” said Rifda Ammarina, Performax Executive Director.
