'Indonesia Emas' gives new shine to fashion
JAKARTA (JP): Seventeen top Indonesian designers paraded their
collections in a fashion show called "Parade Mode Indonesia Emas"
at Plaza Indonesia Tuesday.
Each of the 17 designers, including Carmanita, Iwan Tirta,
Ghea Sukarya, and Harry Dharsono, showed two ensembles, many of
them from previous collections. The result was a dizzying array
of today's Indonesian fashion, from the strictly traditional to
the outlandishly irreverent.
The show, held in conjunction with Indonesia's 50th
anniversary celebrations, was organized by Plaza Indonesia, in
cooperation with the Femina Group and Rajawali Citra Televisi
(RCTI).
The event also marked the Red-and-White Contemporary Design
Competition, for which any materials could be used, including
household appliances and industrial products. Wife of State
Minister for Investment, Mrs. Sanyoto Sastrowardoyo, opened the
exhibit, which will run in the Plaza Indonesia Atrium until Aug.
23.
