Indonesia Bangkit clarifies

Thank you for the coverage on the launch of IBUTeledukasi.

We would like to correct a mistake in the article titled First Virtual University enrolling students published on Aug. 12, which stated the following: "...Perhimpunan Bangkit Indonesia, a non- governmental organization under the Association of the Indonesian Muslim Intellectuals (ICMI)..."

Please note that our organization is Perhimpunan Indonesia Bangkit, not Perhimpunan Bangkit Indonesia. It was set up in 1999 with a vision of establishing a society for democracy and people's economy in Indonesia. It is an independent institution, open to working with any partners sharing a similar vision and mission. In running IBUTeledukasi, we are cooperating with the University of Tun Abdul Razak, the first virtual university in Malaysia, and e-Telkom.

In the launch of IBUTeledukasi on Aug. 9, 2001, we organized the event in partnership with ICMI and the Ministry of National Education.
