Indofood's sales rise 80%

JAKARTA (JP): PT Indofood Sukses Makmur of the Salim Group announced yesterday an 80 percent increase in its net consolidated sales from Rp 771 billion (US$327 million) in the first six months of 1995 to Rp 1.3 trillion in the same period of this year.

The sales increase helped boost the company's net profit by 30 percent from Rp 126 billion in the January-June period of last year to Rp 165 billion in the same period of this year.

Indofood's chief executive officer, Eva Riyanti Hutapea, said in a statement that the sales growth was attributed to the increase of the company's instant noodle sales as well as the inclusion of the results of Bogasari Flour Mills, which was acquired by the company in July 1995.

Indofood, the country's largest instant noodle producer, expects to book Rp 350 billion in net profit and Rp 3 trillion in net sales this year.

Eva said that of the projected net sales, Rp 1.8 trillion will derive from Bogasari. (alo)
