Indigenous groups still poor
BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: Thousands of indigenous people here are in need of special attention, the head of the local office of social affairs said.
Fachri Siregar told an administrative meeting that at least 8,016 indigenous families were not making a decent living.
"Some of them have been resettled," Antara quoted him as saying on Thursday, while the rest are scattered throughout the mountains.
Fachri said his office built homes every year for indigenous people and planned to build 50 homes in the Tapin regency this year.
