Indians to learn Balinese dance

DENPASAR, Bali: Two students from the Indonesian Arts School (STSI) in Denpasar left on Friday for India to teach Indians Balinese dance and music.

STSI head Wayan Rai said the students, I Wayan Wija and I Made Karyana, were the school's top graduates in 2001 and 2003.

He said the two would become staff members of the Indonesian Embassy in India, as people there were keen to learn Balinese dance and music.

The first Indian students taught by I Wayan and I Made would perform during Indonesia's independence day on August 17, he said.

Wayan Rai added that this was the fourth time that they had sent STSI students to teach Balinese dance and music abroad. Previous groups had taught at the Indonesian consulate in New York, and at Indonesian embassies in Australia and Hungary, he said. -- Antara
