Indian romance sinks 'Titanic'
MEDAN: Indian romantic movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (The Love Thrills) has topped the movie charts in Medan for six consecutive months, beating the record of four months held by Titanic.
Telling of a triangular love affair and starring Sharukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukherji, the film has won a legion of besotted fans. Many of them also bought the video cassette and video compact disc (VCD).
"I've watched it 15 times, five times in the theater and the rest on the VCD," said 21-year-old Rizal.
Rizal described the movie as overwhelmingly romantic. "It's different from the sad ending Titanic ... it's funny and has a happy ending."
The VCD of the Indian blockbuster costs from Rp 15,000 to Rp 20,000, but it can be rented for Rp 5,000. (40/edt)
