Improve public transportation!
I fully support the Jakarta governor's suggestion to abolish the three-in-one system for the basic reason that it doesn't work. Also, I do not think it would be wise to implement a sticker system as it would not be fair to burden common people with that kind of fee while the current currency crisis persists. The rich, however, would be able to buy stickers, giving them the privilege to use the roads without being significantly financially taxed. Roads are built to benefit all citizens, aren't they?
To improve the traffic system, the quality of the public transportation system must be enhanced by providing more buses so that the waiting time at bus stops can be shorter than the current average of one hour. Most of the time buses are packed with commuters who must cope with arriving to work sweating and exhausted. For those who can afford air-conditioned buses, the conditions are better -- even standing passengers arrive at their destination still reasonably fit and fresh.
If the public transportation system were to be improved, I think many people would start using public transportation instead of clogging our streets with their cars as they drive alone to work or shopping centers.
