Imported sugar rules market
SEMARANG: Imported sugar from Brazil has prevailed in Central Java despite a governor's ruling banning the commodity from the market, an official said on Tuesday.
Soendoro, head of the provincial chamber of commerce, said that the better quality and lower-priced imported sugar threatened local sugar producers and he called on the local authorities to take stern measures against importers.
Soendoro added that the imported sugar was transported to the province via East Java and Jakarta.(har)
