Immigration law

I refer to the letters from Elis Suminar and Martin Boothby in The Jakarta Post of May 2, 1999 and July 7, 1999 respectively, complaining about discrimination in the Indonesian immigration laws.

It is scandalous what has happened to my family since 1989. I have been living here with a Sundanese wife in a correct manner. But the discrimination through immigration laws has psychologically destroyed my life. I am now staying here on a tourist visa which is valid for 60 days. This is indeed a problem for me and my wife.

We used to live, after our marriage in Jakarta in 1982, in Germany in peace without any discrimination according to the German immigration laws.
