Illegal loggers rounded up

PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: Since an anti-illegal logging drive was launched by the government in 2003, West Kalimantan Police have arrested at least 445 people for their alleged roles in illegal logging. From the loggers, the police seized some 239,566 cubic meters of logs and processed timber worth some Rp 185,318 billion (US$18.5 million).

The police have completed the case files of 46 of the 445 loggers, said West Kalimantan Police spokesman Adj. Sr. Comr. Dedi Suhardi. -- Antara
