Illegal jeans factory raided

BOGOR: An illegal jeans factory, owned by Abdul Halim, in Tanah Bari village, Bogor, West Java, was raided by the Bogor District Police after being suspected of making imitations of designer label Lea jeans.

Police managed to confiscate some 1,230 fake jeans and 16 sewing machines from the factory.

Deputy of the police detectives division, First Insp. Djajang Nurjaman, said on Friday that police raided the factory after receiving a report from Binsar Limbong of the Lea office.

Prior to the report, Binsar had made an investigation to confirm the production of the fake jeans, which can be easily be differentiated from the original Lea jeans.

The original has a LEA 45 mark on the zipper, a leather label on the back of the trousers, and an unfaded orange label attached to the inner fold.

Official said that the production of fake jeans had been running for three months, involving 14 employees. --JP
