Ill winds poleax tennis officials

The 45-kilometer-per-hour wind howling around the Senayan tennis complex yesterday not only caused chaos on the court.

It also blew over the administrators' tent and one of the 12 poles struck two people on the head, causing blood to spurt everywhere.

The two unfortunate officials were immediately hospitalized in the ambulance that had been on permanent standby.

Eye witnesses said that even though the wind was strong, they had no idea it would be able to blow over such a big tent.

Some of the ground staff were less sympathetic. Their reaction was to complain that they had to repitch the offending sun shelter. (yan)
